Trend analysis, explained
Trend analysis means looking at how interest in a topic changes over time to spot what is growing before it goes mainstream. Here is exactly how Foresight IQ does it.
Our method
1. Collect real interest data
For every topic we track, we pull monthly Wikipedia page views for the last 5 years. Page views are a public, consistent signal of how many people are actively looking something up.
2. Measure growth
We compare average monthly interest in the most recent 6 months with the first 6 months on record. For newer topics, the clock starts when interest first appears.
3. Classify the trend
Exploding: interest has at least doubled and is still near its high. Peaked: recent interest has fallen below 40% of its high. Regular: steady growth or stable demand.
4. Add context
Each topic is grouped into a category such as Technology, Health or Food & Beverage, so you can compare trends within a market.
